Days of Russian Speech in Armenia

On 2 November, the Pedagogical University hosted the official ceremony of “Russian Speech Days” in Armenia.

The 10th jubilee event was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the memorandum of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance signed between the Republic of Armenian and the Russian Federation.

Within the framework of this initiative, an international scientific- practical conference headed “Russian Language as the Warranty of Cultural Dialogue, Scientific Cooperation, International and Interpersonal Communication in the 21st Century” was organized for teachers of Russian Language and Literature, undergraduates, MA and PhD students.

Likewise, the 8th republican awards ceremony the “Best Russian Language Teacher of Armenia 2017” was held on this occasion.

Those present, were greeted by the Director of the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Armenia Mr. Sergey Ribinskiy, the ASPU Vice-Rector Srbouhi Gevorgyan, the Chairman of the Armenian Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature, the ASPU Associate Professor Lilia Balasanyan, the Executive Director of the Association of Soviet and Russian Universities Mr. Vagharshak Madoyan.

During the plenary session, the participants discussed a number of professional questions, particularly “Russian national bilingualism as warranty of development of institutional multilingualism”, “Planning as an interactive teaching method aimed at development and activation of speaking skills”, “Bilingual education controversies and existing issues”, etc.

More than 70 scientists from Armenia, Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova were participating in the event.
The Lecturer of the Institute of Russian Language and Culture after M.V. Lomonosov Ms. Irina Kastelina presented her report about the “Geopolitical and Cultural Prerequisites of Development of Russian Civilisation”.

What is more, the discussions of the conference mainly referred to the contemporary issues of learning and teaching Russian language; the participants shared the opinion that Russian Language comprised the greatest achievements of international communication and world culture.

The events held from 20 -24 November were organized with the support of the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Yerevan, the RF Embassy in Armenia, the RA Ministry of ES, Armenian Association of Specialists of Russian Studies, Armenian Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature, Association of the Soviet and Russian Universities’ Alumni, as well as Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots of Armenia.
