"We have met again to tell you what worries us and how we live. We have appeared in times of changes, when values have changed; what was valuable once is nothing today. But the only thing that remains is hope - the path to salvation and the fragile strength that makes us move forward and live." A student matinee entitled "A Little Orchestra of Hope" and organized by the Chair of Russian Language and its Teaching Methods started with these words.
The name of the matinee was not chosen by chance. Students of the ten faculties were inspired by "A Little Orchestra of Hope” - selected poetry Bulat Okudzhava, one of Russia's famous bards and poets, and created a small orchestra consisting of different voices, thoughts, feelings, kind and sincere words, full of hope, faith and love.
The event was attended by Mariam Ispiryan, ASPU Vice-Rector for Education and Science, professors and students.
During the literary matinee the orchestra presented famous and popular works by Boris Pasternak, Anna Akhmatova, Vladimir Vysotsky, Marina Tsvetaeva, Paruyr Sevak, Komitas, Arno Babajanyan, Jivani, and other talented poets and musicians.
Reflecting on the events of recent years and recalling the well-known saying “A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones” the students expressed hope that the time to gather stones has come.
They are sure that it can be done if there is unity and common interests and if alienation and disappointments are left in the past. They have done so through works about hope, faith and love. “People have talked, written and song about the healing power of love. Without love, life is colorless and poor. It is true that sometimes it's messy, hard, and sad but as the famous Russian poet Robert Rozhdestvensky said, ‘it is more pleasant than sadness without love,’ the students said expressing hope that "A Little Orchestra of Hope"managed to convey a large dose of love to the audience.
