At the beginning of the Academic Board meeting, ASPU Rector Ruben Mirzakhanyan congratulated all those who are celebrating their birthdays in September - Gevorg Karapetyan, Svetlana Adamova, Sahak Troyan, Tsovinar Shahiryan, Samvel Abajyan, Mher Melik-Bakhshyan, and Layma Kundrats. He wished them good health and success in their future activity.
Head of the Internship Centre Vahan Sargsyan presented the process of reforms in pedagogical practices, the work done, the opinion of external experts, drawbacks and ways to correct them.
When evaluating the institutional capacity for quality assurance in May 2019, experts hailed the steps towards cooperation in terms of implementing internship programmes, he said. At the same time, they made a number of observations and suggestions which will help assess the challenges of the current phase of reforms. He says this assessment enabled them to identify target groups and take steps to improve the quality and outcomes of the practice.
Vahan Sargsyan also presented the next steps to improve practice and said they are being discussed in the context of partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation.
Ruben Mirzakhanyan once again emphasized that practice is important for future teachers and stressed the importance of its inclusion in the final attestation of graduates.
Mariam Ispiryan, Secretary of the Academic Board, presented the work plan for the 2019-2020 academic year, which was approved by the Academic Board.
Professor Ruzan Tadevosyan, Doctor of Philology, Acting Head of the Chair of Foreign Literature, was elected Head of the Chair of Foreign Literature by secret ballot. She received 48 votes for and 3 against. Professor Aida Topuzyan, Doctor of Pedagogy, Acting Head of the Chair of Pedagogy was elected Head of the Chair of Pedagogy with 49 votes for and 2 against. Professor Lusine Ghulghazaryan was elected Head of the Chair of Mathematics and its Teaching Methods with 28 votes for and 22 against. There were two candidates for the position - Lusine Ghulghazaryan, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, and Professor Yurik Safaryan. The latter received 22 votes for and 28 against. One vote was recognized invalid.
The Academic Board discussed other issues as well and approved six topics for their doctorate thesis.
ASPU Vice-Rector Srbuhi Gevorgyan presented the academic integrity policy and regulations for Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan fund, which were approved by the Academic Board.
ASPU Vice-Rector Mher Melik-Bakhshyan presented the specialties, exams, and tuition fees for the 2020-2021 academic year, while Edgar Hovhannaisyan, Dean of the Faculty of History and Law, recommended students Sona Keshishyan and Zahrab Abdolmaji for nominal scholarships after Movses Khoarenatsi and Mkhitar Gosh.
