On January 22, Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) hosted a focus group discussion within the framework of the Erasmus+ Promoting Values Education in South Caucasus Higher Education Institutions (PROVE) project.
The meeting was attended by Marianna Harutyunyan, ASPU Vice-Rector for Human Resources Management and International Cooperation, lecturers, students, representatives of NGO, teachers and parents.
The coordinator of PROVE project, a three-year capacity-building projects in the field of higher education, is Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University (Georgia).
The goal of the project is to enhance Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the three South-Caucasian countries (SC), Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, by introducing Peace Education courses based on Values and Knowledge Education (VaKE). This will be achieved by creating new courses or modifying existing ones and making an impact on schools and communities. The project aims to support initiatives to promote peace in the region.
The focus group discussion, conducted by Marine Matosyan, Associate Professor of the Chair of Geography and Its Teaching Methods and Mariana Avetisyan, Acting Head of the Chair of Applied Psychology, aimed to identify and assessing the aforesaid needs.
The speakers presented the goal of the project, discussed the role of values in education, possible obstacles, and made suggestions for improvement.
