ASPU hosts Father Lévon Zékiyan

Earlier this week, the "Spyurk" ("Diaspora") Scientific and Educational Center of Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) hosted Father Lévon Zékiyan, Archbishop of the Armenian Catholic Community of Constantinople, Foreign member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia and a member of the Academy of Venice.

Students studying in the Faculty of Philology have had several opportunities to listen to Lévon Zékiyan’s lectures on Grigor Narekatsi (one of the greatest figures of medieval Armenian religious thought and literature), theology, and Armenology (Armenian Studies).

During his meeting with ASPU representatives Pedagogical University, Lévon Zékiyan discussed issues related to Armenology and further cooperation with the "Spyurk" Center.

Let us add that from 1976 to 2011, Lévon Zékiyan headed the Chair of Armenian Studies he founded at Ca' Foscari University of Venice, was the Principal of the Collegio Armeno Moorat- Raphael, better known as the Moorat-Raphaelian School, and the editor of "Bazmavep". The Armenian-language summer course initiated by Lévon Zékiyan has been held in Venice for about forty years.
