ASPU hosts presentation of Lilit Khachatryan book “The Scent of Longing”

The Library of the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) hosted the presentation of former Professor Lilit Khachatryan’s book of prose and verses entitled “The Scent of Longing”.

Head of the ASPU Linguistics Research Laboratory, Professor Lalik Khachatryan noted that her daughter’s book features prose, poems, lyricism, etudes and various silhouettes in which daydreams become reality, while poetry and prose find themselves in-between reality and illusion.

Lilit Khachatryan graduated from the ASPU Faculty of Philology. Since 2002, she has been working as a lecturer of Armenian grabar (classic Armenian) at the Hamazkayin Western Region Literary Group in Los Angeles, but she maintains her bonds with the homeland.

Greeting the attendees of the book presentation, Director of the Library Tigran Petrosyants introduced Lilit Khachatryan and presented the artistic tendencies in the book as vectors of contemporary literature that are worth considering.

The preface of the book “The Scent of Longing” was written by Professor Albert Makaryan, who highly appreciated the artistic merits of the book and noted the following: “The author looks at life through the prism of her crystal-clear soul, and from there she presents to us the eternal human feelings, including longing, the soulful vibrations a person has when he or she is homeward bound, the extremely delicate lilts, as well as the perceptions of national and biological identity and psycho-cognitive perception.”

The speakers presented the substantive issues raised in the book and the philological solutions to those issues, each in their own way.

Member of the Writers’ Union of Armenia Tigran Nikoghosyan; writer, publicist Vrezh Sarukhanyan and poet, translator Hovhannes Saroyan talked about the world views of Lilit Khachatryan, her characterization of individuals, her artistic embodiment of memories and the in-depth vectors of her philosophical judgments.

Rector of V. Brusov State University, Associate Professor Davit Gyurjinyan noted that Lilit Khachatryan was one of his students and that even back then he could feel that she was going to ‘soar’ in the future. “She was able to feel free in a number of genres, including prose, verse, prose poetry, novels, etc.,” the speaker remarked.

The book’s author, Lilit Khachatryan expressed gratitude to the administration of the Armenian State Pedagogical University, the attendees, the speakers and her classmates with whom she graduated from the ASPU nearly 30 years ago and whom she gathered again for her book presentation in the hospitable hall of the educational institution that is close to her heart. “I miss Armenia while living abroad, and in the homeland I take pride in Armenia and in everything that serves as an asset for the longing soul,” Lilit Khachatryan stated.

The book “The Scent of Longing” can be helpful for students in the humanities.
