ASPU hosts representative of RA Education and Science Committee

Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) hosted Artur Movsisyan, Deputy Chairman of the Higher Education and Science Committee of the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports. During the meeting with the ASPU leadership and academic staff, Mr. Movsisyan presented the Committee’s activity and future projects.

In his speech, he dwelt on three important areas: the reequipment of the infrastructure of scientific departments, human resources and regulations of the legal field.

Speaking about the effectiveness of state funding Artur Movsisyan said in recent years the volumes of state finding allocated to the sector has increased. With regard to the dynamics of scientific results, he said there has been a steady increase in the number of publications in the last few years.

The guest also presented the structure of the Committee's grant programs, the process of certification and salary standardization of employees involved in programs for financing scientific and scientific-technical activities, research support programs for postgraduate students and young degree seekers in 2024, emphasizing that compared to the results of the previous year, 65 programs have been guaranteed this year.

Speaking about programs that provide researchers with funding for publication in leading journals or publishing houses included in international scientific databases and the expected changes in the field, Artur Movsisyan said that negotiations are underway with two of the world's top three scientific publishers, thanks to which Armenian researchers will gain access to materials in top-ranked international journals.

Speaking about the programs to be implemented in 2025, Mr. Movsisyan singled out the research conducted by state demand, in cooperation with various state agencies. He then spoke about short-term visits and lectures by professors, as well as the programs aimed at including journals in the fields of Armenian Studies and Humanities in international academic research databases.

His speech was followed by a heated discussion, with the Science Committee representative answering the questions of the meeting participants.
