KHACHATUR ABOVYAN ARMENIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

The Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) hosted the 3^rd student scientific conference organized by the Chair of Psychology after academician Mkrtich Mazmanyan and held under the title “Psychological Studies”.

ASPU Rector Srbuhi Gevorgyan attached importance to the conference from the perspective of shaping students’ research capabilities and enhancing certain theories existing in the sector in the future.

Gevorgyan emphasized that it is also due to the specialists enhancing scientific-methodical capabilities that the students succeed in addressing topics with wide layers and conducting research on current topics that are problematic in the sector.

“Today, enhancing research capabilities are a mandatory requirement for not only psychologists and science specialists, but also teachers. The formulation ‘research teacher’ is not by chance; this is a specialist who is capable of researching the key issues related to the class, pupils, the teaching staff and the education sector, as well as the opportunities for showing the progress. The 21^st century is a century of interpretations in the domain of psychology where you must also know yourselves and your personas very well and the practicing teachers in society and go on to enhance theories and concept papers on the sector in the future,” Gevorgyan said as she gave the future psychologists words of advice.

Dean of the Faculty of Education Psychology and Sociology Ruzanna Petrosyan says the scientific conference serves as a platform leading to the depths of science, while a university serves as the major link to research. She notes that having vocational education is not enough to become a leading specialist in the sector and that it is extremely important to have skills in conducting research.

Levon Sargsyan, Head of the Chair of Psychology after academician Mkrtich Mazmanyan, views this student event as an important step for moving forward in science with small steps, adding that it will give an opportunity to have a better picture of the demands of not only psychological science, but also science in general.

Sargsyan considered a great achievement the fact that students try to keep up with the demands of science and are able to present their research on scientific interests starting from the 2^nd year of studies in the Faculty.

In their speeches at the plenary session, the speakers shared their studies and findings related to the value-based and semantic positions of families in borderline settlements regarding life and death, the relationship between the ethno-identification and self-realization of youth, the mutual agreement with respect to the motivation of high school students to learn and to be united as a group, the types of directions for controlling teens and the characteristics of showing motivation.

The scientific conference entitled “Psychological Studies” continued with discussions on the Issues of Education and Development Psychology and the Social-Psychological Problems of a Person.

The students identified a number of key issues, as well as shared their respective research papers devoted to the topics and their findings. The interesting discussion was followed by a question-and-answer session.
