ASPU Professor Ara Hakobyan Wins the “Vahan Teckeyan” Prize

The annual awards ceremony in different spheres of culture was held at the Teckeyan Cultural Association.

Forty –six artists participated in the competition, in nominations for “Theatrical Art”, “Fine Arts”, “Music”, “Literature”; the selection committee chose the best.
The President of the headquarters of the Association, the ASPU Rector Rouben Mirzakhanyan congratulated the winners of the year and highlighted that the awards ceremony, held for already two decades, aimed at encouraging the best in the sphere of culture.

The award for the “Fine Arts” was granted to the Dean of the Faculty of Art Education of the Pedagogical University Ara Hakobyan. Out of around twenty works the Committee selected the painter’s “Sunflowers” as the best work.

“I love life, light, warmth. In my work I have reflected what I want, and that is the Sun, and sunflowers are actually like a sun”, mentioned Ara Hakobyan and added that receiving the Teckeyan award was very motivating for him.

Next, out of sixteen works presented in the sphere of literature, the “Muchik from Armenia” novel by Artsvi Bakhchinyan was selected as the winner; in the nomination “Theatrical Art” the best prize went to the theater expert Bakhtiar Hovakimyan for his scientific work “Theater in Nor Jugha”, and Sofia Azanvouryan received the prize in the nomination of “Music” for the creation of “Hayastan” [Armenia] mono-opera.

Last but not least, the chamber band of the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra also performed during the awards ceremony.
