Within the framework of the VIII Congress of Teachers and Educators of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries entitled "Education in the Changing World: Impact of Global Realities on Education Development in the CIS Member States,” Rector of Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) Srbuhi Gevorgyan had a working meeting with the heads of universities of the delegations of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
They addressed the current issues in pedagogical education and development of education systems, the image of a 21st century teacher and the challenges, the training of pedagogues, changes in the cognition of preschool and junior school children, and employee training challenges.
The rectors of pedagogical universities presented the structures they head and their orientations, and emphasized the need for joint cooperation, synchronization of methods and involvement, at the same time stressing the need to preserve national characteristics.
Srbuhi Gevorgyan emphasized the importance of holding the 8th Congress of Teachers and Education Workers of the CIS member states at ASPU, and added that the event has brought together leading specialists concerned with the problems in the field. She voiced hope that the congress and the master classes to be held within its framework will contribute to the development of higher education.
Let us add that about 140 representatives of seven CIS countries are participating in the congress that started on October 3.
