Rector of the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) Srbuhi Gevorgyan today participated online in the XXIII International Scientific and Practical Conference of Students and Young Scientists held under the title “Family, Child, Education: New Aspects of the “Classic Triangle””.
The scientific event was organized by Moscow State University of Psychology and Education, the Educational Research Association and the “Education and Pedagogical Sciences” Federal Educational and Methodological Association and was aimed at creating a platform for scientific self-determination and the socialization of young scientists, as well as developing promising and prospective formulas for scientific and educational activities.
Srbuhi Gevorgyan attached importance to the cooperation with Moscow State University of Psychology and Education and mentioned that the actions for development of research in education and upbringing are what have been unifying the two universities over the past years, adding that these scientific events help strengthen the cooperation and create new prospects for joint activities in the future.
In her remarks, Professor Gevorgyan touched upon the unprecedented changes in societies and the marked increase in the role of family and educational institutions in the modern conditions.
According to the speaker, family is the primary institution where a child receives the first lessons in life and learns to cooperate with the world around him or her. The concept of childhood is undergoing changes in the conditions of global crises, be it a pandemic, economic instability, military conflicts or social unrest. “In the 21st century, childhood has become more complex and substantive, and the world views of children today are changing since they are growing up in the conditions of digitization and globalization and at a time when technologies are developing at a rapid pace. These changes also concern families,” she said.
According to ASPU Rector Srbuhi Gevorgyan, today, there are several effective practices that allow integrating psychosocial support and the educational process. This implies the creation of school programs that are aimed at developing emotional intelligence, overcoming psychological trauma and providing psychological first aid. There are also initiatives aimed at engaging parents in the educational process. “We should always remember that the educational system is not isolated; it is closely linked to the components of our life, including the cultural, social, economic and political components. The participation of various specialists (pedagogues, psychologists and sociologists) in the educational process will allow giving a multifaceted assessment of the current situation and developing an effective strategy for cooperation with children and their families,” she said.
The XXIII International Scientific and Practical Conference of Students and Young Scientists (“Family, Child, Education: New Aspects of the “Classic Triangle””) continued with roundtables and interactive master classes.
In their speeches, the participants touched upon psychological research in the education sector and the modern experience and innovations in the pedagogical practice. The studies on educational management; sociology and the philosophy of education; early childhood education (preschool); special psychology and inclusiveness, as well as the development of digital technologies in the education sector, were also presented.
