On April 8-13, Associate Professors of the Faculty of Special and Inclusive Education of Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) Marianna Harutyunyan and Vera Marukyan were at Pázmány Péter Catholic University (PPCU) in Budapest, Hungary.
ASPU has been collaborating with the Hungarian university, which is run by the Catholic Church, for a long time. The two educational institutions mainly cooperate in the fields of history and jurisprudence.
The aim of the visit was to expand the fields of cooperation, including psychology, special and inclusive education as well.
During the working visit, the ASPU representatives had meetings with Nándor Birher, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at PPCU and Dr. Bálint Kovács, Head of the Department of Armenian Studies at PPCU.
The parties discussed opportunities of joint research in psychology, as well as implementation of joint programs in special education.
Within the framework of the visit, the ASU delegates also visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary where they met with Zoltán Hernyes, Head of the Department of Hungarian Studies, Diaspora and Balassi Scholarship Program. The parties discussed issues related to the opening of a Hungarian cultural center at ASPU.
An agreement was reached to complete all contractual obligations and sign a new agreement in May. The opening of the center is scheduled in September.
