ASPU representatives visit Telavi State University

On 9-11 December, the Erasmus+ Promoting Values Education in South Caucasus Higher Education Institutions (PROVE) Project kicked off in the Georgian city of Telavi. The coordinator of the three-year project is Telavi State University in Georgia.

Among those attending the official opening ceremony were representatives of the partnering universities of Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan (online) and Europe. Among the representatives of the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) were Acting Director of the Centre for International Cooperation and Project Management Anahit Panosyan; Acting Head of the Chair of Applied Psychology Marianna Avetisyan and Associate Professor of the Chair of Geography and its Teaching Methods Marine Matosyan.

The goal of the project is to enhance Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the three South Caucasus countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia) by introducing “Peace Education courses based on Values and Knowledge Education” (VaKE) and to support initiatives to promote peace in the region. As the project managers note, the project will help create new courses or change the existing ones and leave an impact on schools and communities.

The official inauguration was followed by a workshop during which the partnering institutions of the PROVE Project shared their respective work-based packages on-site and remotely, after which they engaged in a question-and-answer session.

The actions and deadlines for creation and distribution of the working group and planning of project implementation, particularly the actions and deadlines for the first year, as well as internal management issues and the specifics of coordination procedures and the consortium agreement, were also discussed during the meeting.

Let us mention that Armenian, Georgian and Azerbaijani universities will conduct their respective teacher education needs assessments soon.
