The Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts (Matenadaran) hosted the opening of the first “Graton” (Book Fest) international expo fair of books devoted to Armenian studies.
The event was held as part of the First International Congress of Armenian Studies, the aim of which is to coordinate the field at the state level and contribute to the development and viability of the activities of active centers for Armenian studies in all parts of the world.
The aim of the international festival of books devoted to Armenian studies is to showcase — through publications — the studies being conducted in the field of Armenology and their coverage on international platforms.
The Armenological books published by nearly two dozen state and private publishing houses, museums and different universities of Armenia and the Diaspora over the past years, including the books published by the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU), were presented at the first ever expo-fair of books devoted to Armenian studies.
Based on the selections of the festival’s organizing committee, among the books presented at the “Graton” expo fair were a total of 25 books, including the ones published by ASPU Professors Aelita Dolukhanyan, Ashot Galstyan, Vazgen Hambardzumyan, Lalik Khachatryan, Khachatur Stepanyan, Samvel Poghosyan and Associate Professor Edgar Hovhannisyan, as well as anthologies of materials of scientific conferences and the volumes of Journals of Armenian Studies.
Visitors had the opportunity to learn about new and valuable books devoted to Armenian studies, medieval studies, historiography, studies of manuscripts, literary-literary criticism books and books devoted to linguistics.
Let us mention that, in addition to the exhibition and expo fair being held as part of the First International Congress of Armenian Studies, there will also be a number of other events, including a conference, as well as reports and roundtable discussions devoted to the modern challenges and problems in the field of Armenian studies.
