Students of the Chair of Music of Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) specializing in instrumental performance have won a Grand Prix in a republican festival-competition held in Tchaikovsky Music School in Yerevan. The “Kanch” festival-competition of performing arts was organized by the Lina Cultural Center.
By a decision of the jury, first-year students of the University Elen Khachatryan and Gor Galstyan (clarinet: lecturer Associate Professor Sevada Shoyan, flute: lecturer Vazgen Minasyan) won the Grand Prix for performing the duet of Shostakovich's Waltz No. 3.
Narek Shalunts, a second-year student of ASPU, came first with his solo performance of Paquito d'Rivera’s Contradanza (lecturer: Associate Professor Sevada Shoyan).
The students participating in the festival-competition said although it was not their first award, achieving success while being a student was inspiring and obliging.
