A special celebration of the Maslenitsa festival was organized by the 4th year students of the Faculty of Primary Education, Department of Elementary Pedagogy and Methodology. The students introduced the importance and the sacrament of this holiday, which is celebrated a week before the Great Lent, explained how it is marked, how people congratulate one another, and other habits in related thereto.
A Russian holiday with Armenian hospitality; the initiators organized this event with typical festivity of songs, dances and treats.
The Lecturer of the Chair of Russian Language Armen Hakobyan mentioned in his interview to the aspu.am that celebrating certain Russian holidays had become a beautiful tradition aiming at expanding the students’ viewpoint, familiarizing them with culture and traditions of other nations.
The Head of the Chair Inna Sargsyan added that such occasions allowed them to once again draw parallels between traditions, cultures and habits of different nations.
It is not possible to learn a foreign language only through grammar rules; one should also associate with the culture and traditions of other nation”, mentioned the Head of Chair and gladly noticed that other holidays of our friendly nations were also often celebrated by various initiatives of the lecturers.
To conclude, the students unanimously agreed that the holidays of our own nations should be celebrated, but at the same time they should also be aware of other nations’ culture and traditions. Likewise, the future pedagogues are assured that the knowledge acquired through such initiatives would surely pass to the following generations.
