KHACHATUR ABOVYAN ARMENIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

The group “Young Museologist” has started its activities upon the initiative of Armenian State Pedagogical University and Service for the Protection of Historical Environment and Cultural Museum-Reservations.

The first classes were held at the regional library of Armavir marz and at School N4 in Vagharshapat town. The course was conducted by the first-year MA students of ASPU majoring in Museum Studies and Protection of Monuments.

The aim of the newly-formed group is to arouse interest among pupils in the sector, popularize our cultural heritage and introduce the youth to the activities of museums in Armenia and other countries.

The participating pupils were excited by the course which also offers excursions to the ASPU Museum, “Zvartnots” and “Garni” historical and cultural museum-reservations and Metsamor Historical-Archaeological Museum.

It is due to mention that Young Museologist has its Facebook page which allows visitors to get in-depth information about Museology in general, ask their questions to corresponding specialists as well as students who conduct the course.

If the programme proves to be a success, similar programmes will be introduced in other marzes as well.
