"The 21st century has set important priorities before teachers; the emphases and demands of pedagogy have changed. Today, the educator who has critical thinking, who sets the right goals, is proactive, predictive and, most importantly, able to cooperate, is a powerful force. This student-lecturer conference is aimed at deepening that cooperation and it focuses on important topics in modern pedagogy,” Aida Topuzyan, Head of the Chair of Pedagogy, said today during the conference on “Current Issues in Pedagogy and Solutions.”
The professor expressed hope that the event will be especially important for the graduates who are on the eve of presenting their final theses.
She also considered the conference to be an important platform for presenting research works, drawing conclusions, and expressing opinions on a given pedagogical issue.
Mariam Ispiryan, ASPU Vice-Rector for Education and Science, says we are living in difficult times, and that very fact makes us review our priorities and emphasize teachers’ role in society.
The vice-rector notes that one of the priorities of the Pedagogical University is to train good and qualified specialists. Today, more than ever, it is necessary to have strong schools, a well-developed public educational system and a society with a strong value system willing to build the future today. “On the way to becoming a scientific research university, we attach importance to all scientific and educational processes where students are involved. Education is a continuous lifelong process, and conferences are a kind of examination for both professors and students. I think our cooperation has been effective. I also hope that you will stay in touch with the university. We are ready to support and guide you in the process of developing your skillset," the vice-rector said.
Naira Safaryan, ASPU Vice-Rector for Educational Processes, added in turn that they are proud of the achievements and outcomes their students have. They [the university leadership] do everything to improve the educational process, to correct gaps and deficiencies.
Stressing the importance of teaching profession once again, Naira Safaryan said future teachers’ entry to school is doubly important given the current complicated and important geopolitical era.
Heghine Khachatryan, Dean of the Faculty of Primary Education, hailed the initiative of the Chair of Pedagogy which focused on teacher-student collaboration and format of joint presentation which always keeps the pedagogical thought active and bright.
Many of the students of the Faculty she heads were participating in the conference. She was sure that the participants would have fruitful discussions on current issues and topics, focusing on the main emphasis of modern pedagogy - cooperation.
The reflective activity of elementary school teachers in the learning process, the problem and prevention of bullying, personal growth and development of teens, ways to increase the efficiency of adaptation of young teachers, the role of social pedagogues in professional orientation of junior schoolchildren, etc. The participants of the conference presented their research and analysis on the aforesaid topics and made suggestions.
The speeches were followed by a Q&A session and an interested discussion.
