The 25th conference of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) was held from 1 to 7 September in Kyoto, Japan. Davit Poghosyan, Associate Professor of the Chair of Museology, Library Studies and Bibliography at ASPU, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, was included in the Armenian delegation to ICOM. He gave speeches at the ICOM International Committee for the Training of Personnel and Kyoto International Conference Centre on the theme: Museums as a Hub of Professional Development. This is the first time Armenia has participated in the ICOM committee meeting in this format. The members of the ICOM profession structure elected Davit Poghosyan member of the governing body.
Speaking about his election Davit Poghosyan considered it as a good opportunity to keep up with developments and events that take place in the sphere.
The annual meeting of ICOM will probably be held in Armenia. “We have already discussed the possibility and we should do our best to bring the conference to Armenia. The conference will be attended by representatives of about 50 ICOM members. This event will greatly promote development of museum studies in Armenia,” he said.
