Rector of Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) Srbuhi Gevorgyan has issued a congratulatory message on the occasion of May 9.
“May has a special meaning and historical significance for the Armenian people: it has been and continues to remain a month of glorious victories, although the recent disaster overshadowed one of the most glorious victories of the Armenian people in the late 20th century - the liberation of Shushi. And yet...
I congratulate you on May 9, the 80th anniversary of the victory [of the Soviet Union] over fascism (Nazi Germany) in the Great Patriotic War. May 9 is one of the most symbolic and important holidays in the history of our people, which unites the ideas of victory, unity, and preservation of national identity.
Victory Day is one of the glorious pages of our heritage that has shaped the national value system. We are indebted to everyone who fought heroically against fascism, cleansing and sanctifying their native land with their courage and self-sacrifice. Their sacrifice and heroism are an integral part of our history, an inexhaustible guide for the feats of generations to come. Thanks to all our brave heroes, we exist today and continue to educate new generations, at the same time relying on a strong historical memory.
As an important center for the dissemination of knowledge, education, and spiritual values, Armenian State Pedagogical University, within the framework of its mission, always emphasizes the importance of peace, mutual respect, preservation of national identity, and patriotic education. Our students, future educators, are the foundations of our society, who should continue to strengthen love for and dedication to the Homeland by educating tomorrow’s citizens.
May May 9 be a day that keeps the message of memory, peace, and solidarity alive! I wish you peace, health, creative work, and inspiration for the benefit of the development and well-being of our country,” Srbuhi Gevorgyan said in the message.
