“Distance education data reports are continuously analyzed, and new steps are developed to improve distance learning,” ASPU Vice-Rector Mher Melik-Bakhshyan said when talking to aspu.am.
Distance learning courses have been launched at ASPU since January 8. Students taking distance learning bachelor programmes in more than 40 specialties will attend the course twice a week for four weeks.
Lessons and writing assignments followed by exams and internships: such is the routine of a student attending a distance learning course: By the way, this year’s novelty is that 3rd year students will have a chance to take an internship like 4th and 5th year students.
In conversation with aspu.am, Mher Melik-Bakhshyan stressed the fact that distance learning students have an opportunity to use Google Classroom platform. “Involvement in that platform is twice as effective for distance learning students since they receive consultations, assignments and module tests through the platform,” he stressed. It should be noted that after switching to e-learning system educational programmes will become easier and smoother thanks to Google Classroom.
Speaking about the discussions on switching from distance learning to e-learning, Mr. Mher Melik-Bakhshyan noted that the draft law on Higher Education and Science has yet to establish rules and methods. “Admission into distance learning programmes for the 2020/2021 academic year, specifically specialities, exams and tuition fees, have been approved. The documents will be accepted from August 25 to September 25,” the vice-rector said.
Let us mention that in the 2019-2020 academic year students taking distance Bachelor and Master degree programmes at ASPU can also pay tuition fees according to the preset payment schedule. The new way of tuition payment allows students to pay tuition fees per semester or month.
