Within the framework of the Faculty of Special and Inclusive Education and the project “Наставники и Ученики”[Tutors and Students] of the RF Deaf-Blind Support Academy “Со-единение”[Con-nection] an exclusive defence took place. The postgraduate student of the given Faculty Anush Aslanyan and Sofy Torosyan defended their postgraduate thesis, prepared under a joint supervision. The ASPU Academic Supervisors of the thesis were Associate Professor Siranush Karapetyan and Tereza Azatyan.
On 10-11 June, an online public presentation was organised for future Special Pedagogues with the participation of the Co-Supervisor of the thesis from Russia, the Academic Coordinator of the “Наставники и Ученики” project, Candidate Associate Professor of Psychology, member of the experts’ group of the Institute of Corrective Pedagogy of the Russian Education Academy Ms. Irina Salomatina.
In their works, the postgraduate students referred to challenges of pedagogues working with children with complex and multiple disorders and the system of psychological and pedagogical support provided to families of children with visual and hearing impairments.
Ms. Irina Salomatina appreciated the profound analysis made in the postgraduate research works, the research aims and objectives, the actuality, the type and practical meaning thereof. At the same time, the expert highlighted the importance of independence of the process of research, the skills of applying novatory and creative solutions to theoretical and practical parts of the research papers. The future special pedagogues have constantly been demonstrating those features throughout two years.
Similarly, the members of the Defence Committee also highly praised the work conducted by the postgraduates and well outlined the contemporaneity of the objectives included in the papers, as well as the lack of comprehensive studies thereof in the Republic of Armenia. In addition, the Russian and Armenian colleagues emphasised the necessity of research of the issues presented as a result of this collaborative works.
In their turn, the MA students also outlined the high significance of advice, consultations and guidance provided by their Academic Supervisors, as well as the RF experts’ group members throughout the process of preparation of the postgraduate research works. They are assured that the collaboration already substantiates the actuality, the theoretic and practical importance of the completed work.
The parties are looking forward to the continuity of such a format of collaborative initiatives.
