The Pedagogical University Faculty of Art Education hosted the exhibition by the students of the Yerevan State Vocational School of Decorative Arts. The exhibitions presented various samples of decorative-applied art, such as tapestry, batik, fabrics, jewelry, miniature, wood and metal artistic engraving, etc.
The Dean of the Faculty, Professor Ara Hakobyan considered the exhibition very unique and symbolic, observing that purely Armenian pieces were demonstrated; ASPU graduates from different years, who are already masters at the college today, have a big contribution therein.
“Practice shows that many of you apply for receiving higher education at the Pedagogical University. During the 44-day war of Artsakh, our first-year student Aram Khachatryan, who departed when protecting the borders of the homeland, also was the student at this University. And today, his piece of work is decorating this exhibition”, Ara Hakobyan mentioned and added that this exhibition, so rich in beautiful pieces of works, was a unique tribute to the memory of our boys.
Likewise, the Acting Rector of the Pedagogical University, Professor Ashot Khoyetsyan was also present at the exhibition; he highlighted the importance of cooperation of both educational institutions and expressed his hope that it would be have continuous nature.
“The ASPU is one of the universities that has a strong cultural orientation; this feature is characteristic to universities that have high ranking. The University culture is also extremely important for the society, and the skillful professionals double that rating. Maintaining high quality professionals is our common goal and that’s what makes the preservation of cultural heritage important.”
Lucinei Barseghyan, who graduated from the Pedagogical University 27 years ago, has been the Head of the Yerevan State Vocational School of Decorative Arts. She noted that they had held numerous exhibitions but this one was particularly responsible, as they were at an educational institution, where art is prevailing.
“In the past, when I was dreaming to become a pedagogue, I couldn’t imagine that in future my students will be exhibiting their works in my native university. To those, who came to the college to receive their primary education, we say “here we met, the art and us”. I believe there won’t be major complaints from our students, who came here to receive higher education. Pedagogy is the best profession, and artists are the ones, who look at the world with a clear, simple, and honest view. We will be happy to listen to your advice and remarks”, mentioned the Director and expressed his hope that the exhibited works would not be judged harshly by a professional eye. There is much love in the pieces of works of 14-18 years old.
The exhibition will be on till 25 September.
