The four-day deadly skirmishes in the Karabakh conflict zone coincided with the celebrations of Motherhood and Beauty Day – a national holiday marked in Armenia in April.
And although the sides reached a bilateral agreement to halt hostilities earlier this week, reports about regular ceasefire violations by the Azerbaijani side are received periodically from Karabakh. Students of Armenian State Pedagogical University found strength in them to organize an exhibition dedicated to the holiday through which they tried to show the boundaries of a creative mind and strength of the spirit of Armenian people.
The attendees observed a minute's silence for the soldiers killed during the four-day skirmishes on the Karabakh frontline. This was followed by a speech of Sargis Elbakyan, Dean of the Faculty of Art Education, who congratulated the students on the occasion of the exhibition, wishing them endless love. “Love one another, live beneath peaceful skies, and let no war disturb that love,” he said.
Anush Yeghiazaryan, Head of the Chair of Design, Decorative and Applied Art, Doctor of Pedagogy, assured everyone that unique works and ideas, mostly those that had been recognized the best of their kind, were showcased at the exhibition. Then addressing the students, she advised working and creating all the time, turning their new and interesting ideas into real artworks. “Your power lies in art. Serve your homeland with your art,” she said.
Art specialist Varditer Gamaghalyan considered organization of the exhibition, especially on these days, highly encouraging. She stressed that the Armenian nation must continue to create in any situation.
Addressing the female participants of the exhibition, Chairman of the ASPU Student Council Nersik Margaryan said, “You always inspire and motivate Armenian men. Our wonderful mothers give birth to heroes and educate them to become heroes.”
The initiator and organizer of the exhibition, Chair of the Student Council of the Faculty of Art Education Zaruhi Khachatryan congratulated the students on the occasion of the holiday. Then she revealed the names of the winning students – Armenuhi Khachatryan, Marusya Manasyan, Anna Margaryan, Victorya Ghazaryan and Lilit Galoyan.
They were awarded certificates by the competition commission.
