On the 30th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Armenia an exhibition bearing the same name was held at the Pedagogical University.
The exhibition presented stamps and postcards dedicated to the significant events during the years of independence of Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh, issued jointly with our “friendly countries”.
In addition to the private collection of stamps of the Lecturer of the Chair of Biology, Chemistry and their Teaching Methods, Associate Professor Ashot Babakhanyan, various achievements and losses of previous years were also presented at the exhibition.
The Rector of the Pedagogical University, Professor Ashot Khoyetsyan, who was present at the exhibition dedicated to the Independence Day, considered it a small but a very outstanding event.
“History, historic heritage is one of the important components for the generations to further proceed with their road. Independence is the biggest dream of all nations, and this exhibition comprises the ways of reach there. The declaration of independence and the preceding events are among the important achievements of our centuries of travel. Independent Armenia has overcome serious challenges, and even today we are facing difficult existential challenges, but it is with our wisdom that our nation has to maintain what was obtained so hard”.
Besides, the Rector of the Pedagogical University congratulated all those present on the Independence Day and outlined that the exhibition also marked the beginning of events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the University and its logical connection.
“Independence is the ultimate value and only a few days later we will be marking the inmost day for any state – the Independence Day, and the understanding that it is extremely important that the new generation values what was achieved by previous generations. We, historians are well aware that obtaining independence is very difficult, but it is much more difficult to preserve it. The generation of independence has a big mission to strengthen, upgrade and reinforce it”, mentioned the Dean of the Faculty of History and Sociology Edgar Hovhannisyan.
Furthermore, the Director of the ASPU Scientific Library Tigran Petrosyants, noticed that the history of our county was presented not only in the textbooks but also in other similar collections; if it were not for our independence, those stamps would not exist.
“Ashot Babakhanyan is not only the best biochemist, but also being a collector in his whole life, he is also the best in that field”.
In his turn, the Lecturer of the Chair of Biology, Chemistry, and their Teaching Methods Ashot Babakhanyan joined the congratulations of the day and particularly highlighted in his collection the stamps issued as a result of cooperation with other countries.
What is more, Ashot Babakhanyan presented the most recent stamp of his private collection, which has recently been put in circulation and depicts the Holy Savior Cathedral Ghazantchetsots in Shushi, to the ASPU Rector Ashot Khoyetsyan.
“This is about a period that we lived, this is about our life, and it is good occasion to remember, and why not to value and learn new lessons from our past for the future”, added the Director of the Museum Alvard Grigoryan and emphasized the importance of this exhibition.
As well as, in addition to the collection, the guests had the opportunity to get familiarized with the activities of the University conducted throughout the previous thirty years in a short video and to watch a short film about the heroes of the 44-day war of Artsakh.
The exhibition will be open until 20 October.
