Exhibition of educational materials opens at ASPU

Didactic (teaching) materials, versatile posters, handmade dolls, letter boxes, word books, cards and other interesting accessories created during pedagogical practices were put on display at the exhibition of didactic materials which opened at Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) on June 17.

At the initiative of the Chair of Pedagogy, 2nd and 3rd year students of the four faculties of the university presented and analyzed the works created during the internship, their importance, goals and necessity and the ways to use them.

They also spoke about the various activities carried out during the internship, talked about their effectiveness. The students also referred to their achievements and problems encountered during the internship.

The education internship was important in terms of applying theoretical knowledge in practice, understanding the use of didactic materials and games, developing communicative, cooperative and practical skills, increasing interest in learning, boosting students’ motivation, etc.

Head of the Chair Aida Topuzyan says that pedagogical practice is an important period for both students and lecturers: it gives an opportunity to see accumulated experience, identify weaknesses and strengths.

What did we learn? What didn't it work and why? What could be done to have better quality work? Though Professor Topuzyan is satisfied with the results she says there is a lot to be done in the field of internship. It is also necessary to take steps to change the format of the presented materials and update them.

Gayane Harutyunyan, Associate Professor of the Chair of Pedagogy and supervisor of the internship, says the presented materials are also of an educational nature, and ensure socialization, support, and self-care in case of SEN specialists.

She is glad that students are interested in the creation of didactic materials and are convinced that their availability ensures the effectiveness of pedagogical practice; that’s why they show innovative approaches and creativity, try to develop, improve and not repeat themselves.

Ashot Galstyan, Dean of the Faculty of Philology, says he cannot imagine pedagogy without practice and considers internship to be an important component of the pedagogical process.

Alvard Grigoryan, Director of the ASPU Museum of History, considered the exhibition of the didactic materials to be a display of great work. She advised the students to develop the presented ideas when working at school, and also not to forget that the museum also has great educational potential: they are ready to support students and cooperate with them.

Let us add that some of the participants received certificates for displaying analytical, innovative and creative approach to the didactic materials.
