Faculty of Art Education decorated with miniature paintings

From this point forth, the Levon Kojoyan Exhibition Hall-Foyer of the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) will be represented by the decoration of oversized duplicates (with high mastery) of the “Annunciation” miniature painting of the 13th century Cilician School of Miniature Painting and the miniature paintings of Toros Taronatsi, who is the largest figure of the Gladzor Miniature Painting School of the 14th century.

The creators are a group of lecturers and artists from the Faculty of Art Education. The aim of the daily and sacramental task that took nearly three months to complete is to instruct and educate, and it is of major significance in the cultural life at the University.

Dean of the Faculty Ara Hakobyan notes that the tasks are not automatic duplications and that they tried to keep the original the same in the whole-scale works that are exhibited.

The wooden frames, which are covered with national ornaments and colored stones, convey special charm to the images, which, as Professor Hakobyan stated, are separate works of art and a unique phenomenon in field of artistic wood processing. What are also unique are the decorative drapes, on which various topics related to Armenian miniature art are portrayed. “With the support of the University’s administration, we tried to meet a few objectives with such decorations and colorfulness; besides introducing the future teachers-artists and the Faculty’s visitors to Armenian national traditions, we are also solving the issue of the interior with the help of aesthetic decorations, and the students will transmit this to their pupils in the future.”
