“Fascinating Natural Sciences,” a book compiled in the Methodological Laboratory of Natural Sciences Education, has come out recently.
The authors of the book are Professors Eduard Ghazaryan, Armen Trchunyan, Gevorg Danagulyan, Gagik Melikyan and Sos Mailyan. The book is intended for 5th-9th graders and can be useful for teachers of Natural Sciences and for those who are interested in Natural Sciences.
The authors say that schoolchildren in primary schools receive basic knowledge of various natural objects, phenomena, chemicals, living organisms and humans in the 5th-6th grade during the lessons of Natural Sciences and in the 7th-9th grade when studying Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Geography. The existing textbooks in their format and volume do not allow specialists to satisfy the diverse interests of the learners in this field of study.
Unlike the idealized tasks that are included in school textbooks, the “Fascinating Natural Sciences” includes questions and tasks that are directly related to the real world, and problems the solution of which requires selection of necessary data in many cases. In other words, the solution to each problem is like a small scientific research that requires knowledge of several natural disciplines.
In the section “It’s interesting to know” one can find interesting information on a variety of materials, plants, animals, humans, renowned scientists, and their discoveries.
