The Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) has launched the final certification exams (defenses of graduation papers and Master's theses) for the Bachelor's and Master's degree graduates studying full-time or part-time in the 2023-24 Academic Year.
The theoretical and practical knowledge of the students is assessed by the established commissions, which include the leading specialists in the sector.
This year, the ASPU will have 1598 graduates — 1250 students will receive their Bachelor's degrees, and 348 full-time students will obtain their Master's degrees.
This year, the Faculty of Special and Inclusive Education has 115 graduates. Although the examinations have just begun, Dean of the Faculty Gohar Hovyan is content with the results and emphasizes that the students treat this seriously — they are prepared, the topics of the works are current and meet all the requirements.
Exams also began today at the Faculty of History and Social Science in a calm atmosphere and without tension, and 82 students will defend their graduation papers and Master's theses. Dean Edgar Hovhannisyan assures that the Faculty has done everything posible to check the knowledge, capabilities and skills of the graduates. He told aspu.am that the Faculty attaches importance to the methodical component and also indicates the shortcomings.
As a matter of fact, the University's administration also ovesees the final certification exams; importance is attached to proper organizing of the process in the context of implementation of student-centered policy and ensuring of quality of education. In addition, emphasis is placed on the compliance of the graduation papers with the vocational education program and the criteria for research papers, and in the case of pedagogical professions — also the methodical component.
Exams were also held in the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics without any complaints or violations of regulations. Head of the Chair of Informatics and its Teaching Methods Artur Tadevosyan notes that the commissions have a positive opinion on the works done, and the students view the scores as objective, emphasizing that they serve as a reflection of not only the process of taking the exams, but also the quality of research.
The Head of the Chair assured that the Chair has reviewed the topics of the graduation papers and their significance in terms of application, and some of the graduates, who are also practicing teachers, have tested and applied their works in school.
This year, 273 students will graduate from the Faculty of Education Psychology and Sociology. Dean Ruzanna Petrosyan states that the process is becoming better and better every year, adding that students are more prepared, relaxed and know very well the contents of their submitted works maximally and at the academic level.
The final certification exams for Bachelor's and Master's degrees at the Armenian State Pedagogical University will be held from June 10 to July 2.
