Education
In the same year he entered the Acting department of Yerevan State Institute of Theatre and Fine Arts (Vartan Ajemyan’s workshop), graduated from the Institute in 1969.
In the same year Grigori Stepanyan was hired by the Young People's Theatre of Yerevan as an actor.
In 1970 - 1971 he served in the Soviet Army.

Academic Credentials
In 1972 - 1973 Grigori Stepanyan worked as an actor at the State Dramatic Theatre named after Hovhannes Abelyan in Kirovakan (now Vanadzor).

Work Experience
In 1974 Grigori Stepanyan worked at "Armenfilm" studio as a director assistant.
From 1978 to 1981 he worked in various film groups in Russia. In 1998 he was qualified as a "cameraman of the highest category". From 1982 to 2001 he worked at the State Television of Armenia as a cameraman.
In 2001 the head of the Cameraman Craftsmanship chair of the Department of Culture in Armenian Pedagogical Institute after Khachatur Abovyan A. G. Yavouryan invited Grigori Stepanyan to work at his Chair as an instructor, where he works at present.

Grigori Stepanyan is the author of the book on operator’s craftsmanship in cinematography "From shooting to shooting” (2015 ).
