September 23 is celebrated as International Day of Sign Languages. On the initiative of the Student Council of the Faculty of Special and Inclusive Education, the day was marked with an intellectual game contest entitled "Mtagroh (Brainstorm)-2".
"The aim of the initiative is to raise awareness about the rights of people with hearing impairments and to impart new knowledge," Madlene Minasyan, President of the Student Council, told aspu.am.
Six teams participated in the game, each of which was composed of five members from all faculties of the university, ASPU Base College, as well as Yerevan Special Educational Complex for Children with Hearing Impairments. The teams were selected by drawing lots.
The jury of the intellectual game competition consisted of the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Siranush Karapetyan, Head of the Chair of Special Pedagogy and Psychology, Associate Professor Teresa Azatyan, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Svetlana Muradyan and Chairman of the Student Council Paruyr Galstyan.
Liana Voskerchyan, Miss World 2019 pageant who deals with issue of children with special education needs, and Anna Salome, a fashion marketing specialist, were also among the jury members.
At the end of the competition, the "Pink" team was announced the winner with 18 points. The team was composed of Nonna Karapetyan, Elen Poghosyan, Diana Kirakosyan, Elen Margaryan and David Amirshatyan.
The event was attended by lecturers, students, as well as Czech guests who are in Armenia within the framework of the ERASMUS + project.
The active participants of the contest were given letters of appreciation and professional literature.
