“The Era of Globalisation is not only time for new opportunities, but also new challenges, and one of them is adult education”, mentioned Srbouhi Gevorgyan at the II International Conference held at the Pedagogical today.

“The Era of Globalisation is not only time for new opportunities, but also new challenges, and one of them is adult education. The modern world suggests its methods and forms for the solution of optimisation issues on the basis of the world educational system and national programmes”, mentioned Srbouhi Gevorgyan during the II International Conference on the topic of “Continuous Adult Education as Characteristics of Modern Society” held at the Pedagogical University today.

Within the context adopted in academic practice, adult education in its three forms - formal, non-formal, informal, definitely does not consider the aspect of modernisation of potential that is suggested by each region for the solution of those issues.

The practice of the CIS countries is also not absolute, and the national programmes introduced on various platforms aiming at the solution of the abovementioned issue, sets forward new requirements, where it is important to consider the economic facts.

The ASPU Vice – Rector noticed that the topics presented at the conference organised by the Chair of Theory and History of Pedagogy include all aspects of approaches towards continuous adult education which would be introduced not only by Armenian, but also Russian leading specialists of education sector.

From 24- 25 October, during the conference that had kicked- off in Saint – Petersburg and continued in Armenia, in addition to the representatives from CIS states, there were also delegations from other countries, including Western and European states.

Likewise, the Head of the organisational committee of the conference, Doctor of Pedagogy Marina Yakushkina highlighted in her speech the importance of the topic within the context of today’s challenges and observed that continuous adult education often allows to solve political, economic and cultural issues.

The latter also noticed that it contributed not only into the solution of cooperation matters among the CIS countries but also to the integration of the world educational system.

“It is not the first time that discussions about this topic and the existing issues are being raised. This is a traditional conference as a result of which we have been able to realise that it is not only a pedagogue that is an element of the huge world educational platform, but also all the adults that are present in that area.”

The Head of the Chair of Theory and History of Pedagogy, Professor Laura Asatryan mentioned in her interview to the aspu.am that the conference and the round –table discussion held within the scope of it would improve the development of adult education in CIS countries and undertake steps towards continuous postgraduate education.

Moreover, during the II International Conference on “Continuous adult education as characteristic of modern society” the issues regarding teachers’ re-qualifications and schools integrations matters in case of optimisation were discussed.

“The conference was organised to contribute to mutual assistance and exchange of experience, during which they also discussed the issue of development of extracurricular institutions, creating a network therefor, and this still remained a serious problem among us even after the collapse of the USSR”, added Laura Asatryan.

What is more, during the conference the reports referred to the forms of academic cooperation in the CIS territory, to the non-formal education, the humanitarian component of education, effectiveness of internships, and identity of national issues.

And last but not least, among other topics of discussion were the impact of transformation on pedagogues’ activities, the training system and supplementary specialised education, transformation of professional environment, pedagogic activities and their impact on effective adult education.
At the end of the conference certificates were awarded.
