Issues of Armenian studies and linguistics discussed

The Scientific Laboratory of Linguistic Research at the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) and the Chair of Linguistics at Brusov State University hosted an international scientific conference under the title “Issues of Armenian Studies and Linguistics”.

Among the participants of the scientific conference held at Brusov State University were field specialists from the Armenian State Pedagogical University, Brusov State University (BSU), Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU), the Institute of Language at the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia (NAS RA), as well as the Russian Federation, Belarus, Germany and Iran.

In his welcoming remarks, BSU Rector Davit Gyurjinyan noted that these scientific conferences help bring the specialists of Armenia and foreign universities together and provide solutions to a number of knotty issues related to linguistics as a contribution to the sector in Armenia and abroad.

BSU Vice-Rector on Education and Science Affairs Donara Ghazaryan, Acting Head of the Chair of Linguistics Karen Velyan and Head of the ASPU Scientific Laboratory of Linguistics Lalik Khachatryan also expressed their greetings to the participants.

Associate Professor Karen Velyan particularly attached importance to the participation of foreign specialists, adding that this is conveying wide geographical prevalence to the scientific conference.

During the plenary session, Professor Lalik Khachatryan, Associate Professor Davit Gyurjinyan and Professor Karine Abrahamyan delivered their speeches.

The scientific conference continued with discussions in 3 areas, including Armenian Studies in the 21st Century; Comparative Linguistics; General Linguistics and Cognitive Linguistics.

Assessing the scientific conference during a conversation with aspu.am, Professor Lalik Khachatryan remarked that the speeches can be deemed to be a certain contribution to the study of various kinds of issues related to studies devoted to the Armenian language and linguistics.

The materials of the scientific conference will be published in a separate anthology.
