Mathematics is the Queen of Sciences

The pupils of the Pedagogical University Secondary School N57, 3rd A grade, together with their teacher Karine Chibukhchyan turned the day into a mathematical knowledge celebration by organising an event headed “Mathematics is the Queen of Sciences”.

During the event comprised of eight phases, the pupils disclosed all the charm and beauty of mathematics; the pupils on the stage, having split into four groups of the mathematicians, the wise, the sage, and the clever welcomed the guests and explained about the origin of figures, the positional numeric system, the history of the Arabic and Roman figures up to the Armenian reality, including the activities of Mathematician Anania Shirakatsi.

The pupils performed poems and songs about numbers, as well as presented the characteristics of numbers and the magical stories attributed to them from ancient times. Afterwards, the Cinderella, the Unlucky Panos, the Brave Nazar came on stage to whom the pupils proposed numeric puzzles and helped to find the solutions.

Likewise, the students presented funny puzzles in dialogues followed by numeric proverbs.

At the musical phase with the help of already familiar songs, the children presented problems, after which they played a game with the audience, and summarised all this with the last phase of mathematical jokes.

By consecutively opening the eight figures on the wall they finally reached the logical end of the competitions and opened the word “victory”.

“Victory in everything. And for victory one needs to master mathematics”, said teacher Karine Chibukhchyan. She and the teacher of music and singing classes Azniv Bareghamyan created a mathematical celebration for all those present at the same time connecting the children to the colourful world of numbers.

The Director of the School Naira Toghanyan expressed her admirations towards the pupils.

“This is a special class, where development and mental advancement become more and more noticeable day by day. Do you think it is easy to work with 36 pupils? But it has become possible in this class, where each and every pupil is an individuality and has a unique image and characteristics”.

The teachers encouraged the pupils by advising them to stay unified just like they were during the “Lorke” song and dance at the end of the event.

Last but not least, since it was the book gifting day the pupils received symbolic books headed “Exercise of Mind” to multiply and strengthen the children’s love and knowledge towards mathematics.
