“It is desirable that degree seekers and postgraduate students not only try to receive academic degrees but also pay attention to the importance and application of thesis topics,” ASPU Rector Ruben Mirzakhanyan said during a meeting with postgraduate students and degree seekers.
The rector spoke about a number of issues in science. He stressed once again that scientific and pedagogical activity is not remunerated adequately in our country although those people are responsible for training and preparing specialists who are in great demand in various fields.
He noted that science is aging for several reasons. One of the reasons is that aging specialists don’t have enough knowledge and skills in information technology (IT) which causes some difficulties in the workplace.
Ruben Mirzakhanyan advised postgraduate students and degree seekers to avoid plagiarism. He also congratulated them on the upcoming holidays and wished them success in their future initiatives.
Kamo Vardanyan, Head of the Research Centre, said that this year’s applicants for postgraduate and research degrees are qualified specialists with sufficient expertise in different organizations. “This confidence is double-binding because their choice is conditioned by the ongoing changes at ASPU,” he stressed.
Among the changes he pointed out the introduction of second foreign language teaching, education management, pedagogy and psychology, etc. Kamo Vardanyan also spoke about other changes in postgraduate research programmes. All the changes were made based on international best practices. He advised the students to use the Google Classroom e-platform and to have their articles published in the seven periodicals of the University, thereby creating a solid foundation for their thesis defense.
“Dual responsibility is placed on your shoulders: in addition to acquiring knowledge in the field of your specialization, you should be able to transfer it to others,” said Aida Topuzyan, Head of the Chair of Professional Education and Applied Pedagogy. She said that the professorial staff of the Chair will do their best to support the students. The professor assured everyone that ASPU is an institution where everyone’s dream comes true and where no student is left unnoticed.
The degree seekers and postgraduate students thanked the organizers of the meeting. They hope that their small steps in science will turn into a flight, bringing them success and new achievements.
