More awards handed out at ASPU

The All-University Chair of Pedagogy held an extended session at ASPU, which was attended by leadership and professors of the University, school directors, and graduate teachers who constantly support the Chair.

An awards ceremony on the occasion of the University’s 100th anniversary was also on the agenda.

Rector Srbuhi Gevorgyan awarded "Pedagogical University" medals to Associate Professors Susanna Sisyan, Gayane Aghuzumtsyan and Hakob Tadevosyan for their outstanding contributions to the training of young professionals and development of higher education.

A number of professors of the Chair received certificates of appreciation and honour for the conscientious and effective performance of their professional duties.

Rector Gevorgyan said in her speech that the Chair has had a significant importance ever since the establishment of the University. For 100 years now, the Chair has been teaching to teach, performing its mission and activity with knowledgeable professionals. “Times, methods and concepts of education have changed, but the Chair’s nation-savior mission has remained the same. Summarizing the history of one hundred years, we have results, we can talk about the work done, existing problems and new challenges, where the role of the Chair is again of key importance,” the rector stressed adding that the chair's has a difficult mission; in the next one hundred years, is necessary to have a vision of pedagogy, which will help plan the process of preparing and training specialists in preschools, general education, and higher education.

Head of the Chair Aida Topuzyan thanked the University leadership for their daily care and attention, willingness to support the Chair, and for being next to each lecturer and appreciating them.

Aida Topuzyan stressed that since the day the University was founded, the devotees of the Chair have played a significant role in preparation and training of scientific personnel in the field of pedagogy.
Summarizing the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of ASPU, the professor presented the history of the formation of the Chair, addressed the key issues, emphasizing the challenges and problems of pedagogy and the importance of conferences and various events aimed at solving them.

Aida Topuzyan emphasized that the discussed topics were relevant and addressed the challenges of pedagogy, modern problems of childhood, as well as measurement and evaluation of the quality of education.

Professor Topuzyan awarded a "Hovsep Orbeli" commemorative medal to the ASPU rector as a sign of love and respect, stressing that during the most difficult years for Armenia, Orbeli was able to organize and save the relics of the heritage of world civilization.

Aida Topuzyan also added that they plan to hold an all-university competition entitled "Evidence of an Educated Nation" among lecturers and students.

The professor emphasized that the aim of the competition is to enrich the history of Armenian pedagogy, study and present the activities of educational institutions and intelligentsia in Western Armenia, ensure student-lecturer cooperation on the way to creating knowledge.

At the end of the session, students and teachers of Primary School No.104 extended the University and its staff their congratulatory messages. Let us mention that most of the teachers are graduates of ASPU.
