The Faculty of Special Education frequently comes up with initiatives that help people with limited abilities feel as full members of society.

As part of the undertaking, the Pedagogical University hosted on Friday the pupils and teachers of a Yerevan-based special educational complex for children with hearing impairments.
The guests walked around the university museum and with the help of signer Anik Vardanyan got acquainted with the history, chronology, professorial staff and prominent graduates of the University.
The group also visited the Scientific Library where they were immediately attracted by the warm and hospitable atmosphere. Some of the children accepted the offer of Tigran Petrosyants, Director of the Scientific Library, historian, culturologist and journalist, to become regular visitors of the library.
“The world of books is an endless space,” Mr Petrosyants cited а fragment of verse by Armenian writer Yeghishe Charents. The director walked through the library with the guests and familiarized the children with the stacks of books which, he said, were awaiting the children. The children were surprised to learn that the best readers were encouraged and awarded.

Tigran Petrosyants did not break the old and good tradition and donated several books to the school library.
The guests also visited the Faculty of Special Education where they got familiarized with the faculty departments, specialties it offers, international cooperation and leading institutions in the field of special education.
On behalf of her colleagues, the Dean of the Faculty, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Armine Avagyan confirmed their readiness to assist the children in the learning process.
The dean added that within the framework of Tempus program they plan to replenish the professorial staff with new specialists who will work with students having certain impairments.
Dancer Irina Soghomonyan, who has participating in international competitions, dreams to continue her studies at the Pedagogical University. After touring the university building she understood that she would be able to realize her parents’ long-cherished dream of receiving higher education and becoming a linguist.
Her classmate Greta Avagyan, who visited the Pedagogical University for the second time, confessed that she was impressed by what she had seen, especially the university museum andlibrary. Next time Greta is going to take her friends with her.
The children asked questions and inquired about the prerequisites that will allow them to study at the Pedagogical University.
The teachers confirmed that the pupils possessed the appropriate skills in order to receive higher education; they simply need a little support to be able to overcome the difficulties they encounter on their way.
