“He turned literature into culture”
“Vardges Petrosyan has his permanent place in the Armenian Literature. This self-forged person with vehement character was gifted with the ability to go ahead of his time,”

 Professor Souren Danielyan, Acting Head of the Chair of New and Modern Armenian Literature and its Teaching Methods, Doctor of Philology, said in his addressing remarks during the conference dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the writer. 
 
He highlighted the role and contribution of the writer and publicist, the editor of “Garun” (Spring) magazine to the literary and cultural life of the country and said if Armenia’s key to success lies in our Mother Tongue, Petrosyan’s secret lies in the discovery of national formula on the disinterested paths of the Armenian Literature.
 
“His speech was short, plain and simple, but comprehensive and meaningful…” Doctor of Philology, Professor Martin Gilavyan described Vardges Petrosyan with these words, proudly adding that she was fortunate enough to know the writer personally. 
 
Martin Gilavyan referred to the literary developments of the 60s and 70s and to Petrosyan’s works in this context, while Lusine Galstyan, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor, the organizer of the conference, spoke in her report about the character of an intellectual reflected in the writer’s works. 
 
Further on, Candidates of Philological Sciences, Associate Professors Armine Muradyan and Naira Khachatryan dwelt on the writer’s works – “Diaspora and Homeland,” “Armenian Sketches,” and Maya Grigoryan spoke about Petrosyan’s publicism.
 
Also, undergraduate students of the University, Vanuhi Baghramyan, Armen Sargsyan, Lusine Gevorgyan, Kristine Grigoryan, Mushegh Haroutyunyan, Lilit Karapetyan and Anoush Mkhitaryan read excerpts from the writer’s novelettes and analytical works. 
 

 “Putting his hand on the pulse of the literature Vardges Petrosyan turned it into culture which is a great achievement,” said Doctor of Philology, Professor Vazgen Hambardzoumyan. He expressed the hope that the writer’s works will be studied more thoroughly in the course of time. 
 
The conference was attended by Vardges Petrosyan's widow, Emma Makaryan, and daughter, Anahit Petrosyan.
 
Emma Makaryan expressed her admiration with the interest the Armenian youth showed towards the Armenian Literature, including the works of her husband. She is hopeful that literature will soon regain its former glory.
