Within the framework of 90th anniversary of the Pedagogical University a conference was arranged on the initiative of the Head of the Department of Armenian Literature and its
Teaching Methodology of the Philological Faculty, Aelita Daloukhanyan.
The conference was devoted to the 1400th anniversary of the greatest Armenian scientist of VII century, literary man Anania Shirakatsi.
The opening speech on the conference was made by the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Yuri Davtyan.
The conference consisted of several parts. To begin with, the Head of the Department of Armenian Literature and its Teaching Methodology, the RA NAS Associate Member, Professor Aelita Daloukhanyan made a report.
The latter mentiones in her speech about the huge importance which she gives to persons who dedicated their lives and knowledge to our nation and illuminated the path of Armenian nation. The national genius, eminent mathematician, cosmologist, and chronologist Anania Shirakatsi, in her opinion, was one of them.
More to the point, the future philologists were introduced with the autobiography of one of the eminent figures of medieval Armenian literature as rendered by Aelita Daloukhanyan.
“Anania Shirakatsi’s autobiography is a unique phenomenon in the medieval Armenia literature. The latter briefly represented the last period of his life, thus rendering a great service to the Armenian science and literature. As a man of literature and a comprehensively developed person, Shirakatsi was deified and considered a wizard, also compared with the diffused flower and the tree of life,” Aelita Daloukhanyan said.
Further on, candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Lilit Hovsepyan represented Anania Shirakatsi’s “Yaghags hartsman ev lutsman” and “Khrakhchanakanq” riddle-problems.
As observed by Lilit Hovsepyan, Anania Shirakatsi’s problems have a cognitive value, the content of which is excellently allied to the author’s surrounding reality and comprises interesting information about the military and hunting lifestyles.
The conference was summarized by the Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Paruyr Sahakyan who presented the speeches “Haytnutyan” and “Zatki” which have particularly been noted in Anania Shirakatsi’s literary heritage with their patriotic context. According to Parur Sahakyan, the two speeches devoted to the two holidays in the Christian Church, the Christmas and the Easter, have been of huge national protecting meaning.
And last but not least, it should be mentioned that thanks to the efforts of the three specialists of the Department of Armenian Literature and its Teaching Methodology, a collection of Anania Shirakatsi’s articles is already ready.
