The 3rd session of the Trade-Union Committee was held at the Pedagogical University.
The session was conducted by the oldest delegate of the Trade-Union Committee, the Director of the University Cultural Center, Professor Arkadi Shekunts.
The Chairman of the Trade-Union Committee Hasmik Sargsyan summarized the work and activities of the Trade-Union from 2007-2012 in the period of her chairmanship and mentioned that managing the University’s Trade-Union by the principles of solidarity, democracy and legality, she directed her activities to the protection of the Trade-Union members’ labour and social interests.
“In the period under review, 57 Trade-Union Committee sessions were convened in which a variety of issues referring to the University daily work, including the events organization, material support, the employees rights, the labour discipline. The University staff and students social conditions were also discussed; if required, the necessary financial support was provided to them. The Trade-Union also collaborated with the cultural centers, contributed to the arrangement of the university staff and students’ leisure time, their aesthetic, cognitive, patriotic and humanitarian spirit education,” Hasmik Sargsyan added.
Further on, Karen Khanayan presented the Audit Commission report, which was followed by the Trade-Union Committee Chairman elections.
As a result of an open poll Hasmik Sargsyan was unanimously re-elected the Chairman of the Trade-Union Committee. The latter in her turn, promised to work in a more efficient way and to suggest amendments to the National Assembly for further strengthening of the Trade-Union Committee field.
We would also like to mention, that the Pedagogical University Trade-union Committee is registered in the RA State Registry as a legal entity. It has been operating based on the RA Labour Code about Trade-Union Committee, the ASPU legislation and other legal acts.
