ASPU welcomed the opening of the UNO Corner and celebrated the Spanish Language Day

Henceforward, the teaching professorial team of the Pedagogical University, together with its students, will have a wonderful opportunity to get acquainted with the UNO activities,

 values and their work realized in Armenia. 
 
Today, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Pedagogical University and the UNO Public Information Department; as a result a UNO corner opened in the University’s reading –hall with more than a thousand UN publications and multimedia materials available.
 
“We highly praise our cooperation and we’re glad to implement such joint projects. This will greatly help the young people to get involved into the UNO activities and to soundly develop,” the University’s Vice Chancellor on Science and Postgraduate Education, Candidate of Legal Sciences, Associate Professor Ara Yeremyan mentioned.
 
Moreover, the latter is assured that this cooperation will give them an opportunity to arrange debates, researches, and to develop common projects aimed at strengthening the European values. 
 
 Likewise, the UNO representative of the Department of Public Information Maria Docenko also assured that the knowledge of Spanish will open a new frontier for Armenians towards the Spanish-language culture, thus helping them to become the World citizens. 
 

“We live in a Multilanguage World, where the languages in which we communicate, read or write, affect our thinking or actions. And these languages in their turn help to emphasize the significance of the UNO Multilanguage system in stimulating the peace, diversity and intercultural dialogues for the implementation of its populous agenda”.
 
The formal part of the day proceeded to the event devoted to one of the six UNO languages, the Spanish Language Day. The Ambassador of the Republic of Argentine Diego Ernesto Alvarez Rivera, as well as the UNO Armenian office employees, international organization representatives, students and lecturers were all present on this occasion.    
 
Later on, all those present were greeted by the ASPU Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Karen Hayryan and the Acting Head of the Romanic Languages Department Donara Ghazaryan.
 
In addition, the Ambassador of Argentine, while speaking about the introduction of Spanish language into the UNO agenda implementation, urged the youth to learn the language.
 
Further, in the musical part the audience enjoyed Spanish spiritual music, dances and of course, the flamenco with the National Spanish Day spirits and in a Spanish –speaking culture mood.
 
And last but not least, let us also remind that the undertaking “Language Days at the UNO” have been celebrated in Armenia since 2010 and aims at stimulating language and cultural diversity.
