New Approaches to Teaching Russian Language and Literature in Schools

Qualification enhancement courses entitled “New Approaches to Teaching Russian Language and Literature in Schools” continue at ASPU. The courses initiated jointly by ASPU and North-Caucasus Federal University (NCFU) will be held from 24 to 28 October.

Along with teachers of Russian language and literature of RA public schools, representatives of  North-Caucasus Federal University (NCFU) also train professors and MA students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and the Faculty of History and Social Studies of ASPU.

Olga Strazhkova, Professor at NSFU, Doctor of Philological Science, conducted a training course for literary scholars and Linguistics specialists in Russian language of the Faculty of Foreign Languages within the framework of qualification improvement courses.

She presented methods of teaching Russian literature based on the works of the [famous Russian] poet Vladimir Mayakovsky.

Talking to aspu.am, Khachatur Stepanyan, Head of the Chair of World History and its Teaching Methods at ASPU also emphasized the importance of the programme.

As a training lecturer, he says the novelty is not in the methods; it is in the content.

The professors of the Russian university(NCFU)  are well aware of the presented material, specifically the source study and historiographic information of Russian history.

"The four-day training programme is interesting, multi-content and important," says Sona Sarajyan, a specialist in the International Cooperation Unit at ASPU. She adds that everyone interested in the courses can join the trainings online.

Let us add that that the qualification improvement courses are conducted in theoretical and practical formats.

During the meeting, the participants dwelt on theoretical foundations of applying linguistic and literary methods, their peculiarities and perspectives, as well as formation of schematic presentation options of knowledge.

The courses will enable the participants to apply in practice modern technologies of teaching Russian language and literature, methods and means of formation of speech culture, to make schematic lesson planning, use modern methods of linguistic and literary analysis, etc.
