New Cooperation Established with the US University of Minnesota

By the initiative of the ASPU Faculty of Special Education and by the support of the UNICEF Armenia, cooperation edges were established between the Armenian State Pedagogical University and the University of Minnesota, launched by the lectures delivered by the Professor of the University of Minnesota today.

In this light, mutual visits of lecturers, presentation of lectures and exchange of experience are planned within the scope of the two-year project.

During the activities with the group formed at the Faculty of Special Education the Professors of the Minnesota University Brain Abbery, Renata Ticha and Syuzan O’Conner will discuss the content of inclusive and narrow professional subjects taught at the Faculty, as well as the main technical issues of the laboratory supporting inclusive education to be established at the Faculty in future.

Before starting the lecture, the professors and the representatives of UNICEF Armenia had a working meeting with the lecturers of the Faculty involved in the project, discussed the activities foreseen for the upcoming two weeks, and later on spoke with the Vice-Rectors about the programs and activities planned for the two years of cooperation.

Moreover, during the visit, the guests will deliver lectures, speak about inclusive education system in the States including special Pedagogy and Psychology and other professional spheres.

Afterwards, international workshop on “Higher Pedagogical Education Reforms within the Context of Inclusive Education” will be held on 13 October setting the official kick-off of cooperation between the two Universities.

In fact among those participating at the lectures were not only the students and lecturers of the University, but also representatives of other special education institutions and schools providing inclusive education.

And last but not least, the professors of the USA University of California and the University of Minnesota, and the speech therapists of the Neurological Hospital of Lyon will be delivering lectures at the Faculty of Special Education from 4 -14 October. Admission is free.
