New Cooperation on an International Platform

The Pedagogical University hosted a delegation from the Lebanese-Canadian University; the delegation consisted of the President of the University Ronnie Abi Nakhleh, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Yoalnde Salem, and Cultural Advisor in the Embassy of Armenia to Lebanon Mirei Khanamiryan.

During the meeting with the guests, the ASPU Vice – Rector for Personnel Matters and International Cooperation Ara Yeremyan assured that the University was open for cooperation and ready to discuss suggestions in this regards.

“The Lebanese – Canadian University is among top 10 universities of the Middle East, it is accredited by a number of organizations, which is very important for the ranking. It is a University with 95% of its courses taught jointly, and accordingly joint certificates are granted”, mentioned the President of the Lebanese-Canadian University Ronnie Abi Nakhleh and added that in the upcoming academic year the University was planning to open the Faculty of Education as well.

The Lebanese guests would particularly like to find out the number of ASPU students interested in the areas of Sociology and Social Work, and Ecology, the possibility of awarding a double diploma, as well as in students’ and lecturers’ exchange opportunities.

The ASPU Head of the Department of International Cooperation Christina Tsaturyan introduced the activities of the Pedagogical University, its programmes, successful international cooperation initiatives, as well as the practice of granting double diplomas.

In her turn, the Head of the Chair of Ecology and Sustainable Development Karine Danielyan presented the activities developed by the given Chair and assured that students in this discipline were taking a serious list of courses. Likewise, she expressed her hope that the number of students interested in the activities of the Chair and the whole field would increase over the time as the issues of environmental preservation and sustainable development were also highly important on the global level.

Later on , the Head of the Chair of Sociology and Social Work Armen Sahakyan suggested that they should think about joint conferences, webinars, competitions in the process of cooperation, which would contribute to the academic and pedagogical activities on both sides.

At the end of the meeting the President of the Lebanese-Canadian University once again highlighted that the University was open for cooperation and ready to consider various effective collaboration initiatives with the Pedagogical University.

Provision of information about the academic programmes, number of students, and other relevant information, – the Vice-Rector for Personnel Matters and International Cooperation of the Pedagogical University Mr. Ara Yeremyan assured that the first steps of cooperation would be followed by new suggestions and ideas.
