New Memorandum of Cooperation signed

Today Rector of the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) Srbuhi Gevorgyan and Director of the “Historical-Cultural Reserve-Service for Protection of Museums and Historical Environment” State Non-Commercial Organization of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia Armen Hovhannisyan concluded a Memorandum of Cooperation.

The parties, attaching importance to the need for implementation of additional joint educational and research programs and projects, realizing the need for solutions to issues on education, science and culture, will develop mutually beneficial relations by carrying out activities in a number of sectors.

Student and educational-methodical laboratories will be set up, students will participate in vocational training through scientific-educational programs “For Protecting, Exploring, Popularizing and Developing Historical-Cultural Heritage”, and student internships will be organized.

In addition, the Memorandum envisages participation in scientific-educational studies of historical-cultural heritage objects of reserve-museums, the processes of searching for historical-cultural values, museum objects and collections in Armenia and the activities for record-registering collections and creating an electronic database of those collections.

According to the Memorandum, nationwide and international conferences devoted to the protection, use and popularization of historical-cultural monuments, scientific-educational seminars, roundtables and consultations will be jointly organized, and in case of certain educational programs, students having successfully completed their studies at the ASPU will join the ranks of the organization’s staff.

Srbuhi Gevorgyan voiced hope that, as in the case of other documents, the existing provisions will be implemented this time as well. She assured that all the processes taking place at the ASPU are targeted at the improvement and development of research, methodologies, education and science, as well as the comparability of the fundamental skills for teachers of the 21st century. “We attach importance to education from the perspective of not only programmed instruction, but also formation of values. The Armenian State Pedagogical University has a vast array of professions; taking into consideration the complex sector of pedagogy and the challenges facing the sector, we believe students need to participate in the classroom and in extracurricular activities which will serve as an important ‘lesson’ for them,” she said.

Professor of the ASPU Chair of Armenian History Ashot Piliposyan, who is also the Academic Secretary of the “Historical-Cultural Reserve-Service for Protection of Museums and Historical Environment” State Non-Commercial Organization of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia, attached importance to the official partnership between the two institutions and assured that there will be major initiatives and serious work soon.
