New Year celebrations start at ASPU

Christmas and New Year events and celebrations are underway at the Pedagogical University these days. They convey festive moods to students and teaching staff of the University.

For the second year in a row, the ASPU Student Council initiated a Christmas Pageant featuring the students of the University.

Refreshment, rhythmic dances, games, surprises, gifts, as well as Letters of Appreciation given by the ASPU Student Council for active participation, discipline and effective cooperation with the structure.

The Faculty of Special Education became winner in the category of the Best Student Council, Sasun Martirosyan, a student of the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography, was named the Best SC Chairman, the Intellectual Club was recognized as the Best Club. A new category called the Best SC Member was added to the traditional categories this year. Suren Yeghiazaryan, a student of the Faculty of Educational Psychology and Sociology, was named winner in this category.

DJ Soprano and student singers made the event more cheerful with their performances.

Also, diplomas were handed over to the members of the girls' football team.

“Years ago, when I was a student, we could only dream about such events. Today, students can have a good time, celebrate different holidays, understand and appreciate that the University provides all necessary conditions for organizing the learning process and students’ rest and leisure activities in the best possible way,” Chairman of the ASPU Student Council Nersik Margaryan said congratulating everyone on the upcoming holiday on behalf of the structure that he heads.

A pleasant New Year surprise was also awaiting the children of the university employees.

A New Year performance was organized for them at the initiative of Aida Hovhannisyan, Professor of the Department of Television and Radio Directing, and with the support of the trade union.

The heroes of the performance entitled “New Year Gifts of the Fairy” turned the Christmas miracle into reality. Students and graduates of the Department of Television and Radio Directing dressed up as characters of famous cartoons – Buratino, Karlsson, Little Mary, gang and Santa Claus - performed for the children.

The everyday conflict between good and evil ended in the tale with the victory of beauty and harmony thanks to Santa Claus and Fairy.

The director of the performance Aida Hovhannisyan says students participate in similar initiatives with great enthusiasm and excitement, displaying their artistic skills.

Joining the New Year wishes and congratulations of the characters, Aida Hovhannisyan said she wishes that everyone showed generosity, love and dedication to their work.
