Professor Suren Danielyan, Acting Head of the Chair of New and Modern Armenian Literature and its Teaching Methods named after Vache Partizuni at ASPU, was granted the Vahan Tekeyan award in Armenology for his book “Problems of Oshakan’s Creativity: Comments and "Details.”

The monograph, published by the decision of the ASPU Scientific Council, is dedicated to Hakob Oshakan, the undisputed leader of the 20s-40s epic poetry, one of the outstanding masters of short prose at the beginning of the last century.

Amatuni Virabyan, Chairman of the professional commission, Head of the chair of Museum Studies, Library Studies and Bibliography at ASPU, says Suren Danielyan's book is a deep analytical work that will decorate the field of literary studies, giving future generations, literary scholars, and those who are interested in Oshakan’s activity, extensive material for research.

Professor Suren Danielyan thanked everyone for appreciating his work, attributing his success to Hakob Oshakan, who opened the doors of the Diaspora and Armenia thereby making his work recognizable. “Oshakan had a hard life. Neither his prose, nor his verse was accepted for a long time, but time has proved that he is really a guiding force," Mr. Danielyan said and added that Oshakan wrote novels and short stories, and today we consider him one of our best teachers.

The professor also spoke about the importance of reevaluating literature in the independent Armenia, stressing that it is the responsibility of all of us to honour and value Armenian greats anew.
