Seminar dedicated to World Philosophy Day held at ASPU

Within the framework of the World Philosophy Day, a seminar was organized at Armenian State Pedagogical University upon the initiative of the Chair of Philosophy and Logic named after Academician Georg Brutian.

Lecturers and students of the same Chair made reports, presenting the infinite and comprehensive world of philosophy, ideas, heritage as well as its influence and role in society.

In his speech, Andranik Stepanyan, Associate Professor of the Chair, expressed hope that the seminar will turn into ‘a club of young philosophers’ and give an opportunity to start interesting and direct discussions. In his report, he touched upon the philosophy of religion viewing it as an intellectual form of spiritual activity.

In their reports, lecturers and students also referred to Confucianism and its definition, sociology of culture as an interdisciplinary field and touched upon the philosophy of David Anhaght (the Invincible) and others. The seminar was followed by a question and answer session which enabled students to gain a deep understanding of philosophy and to form new approaches.

World Philosophy Day was proclaimed by UNESCO to be celebrated every 3rd Thursday of November. It was first celebrated on 21 November 2002.
