ARMENIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY AFTER KHACHATUR ABOVYAN

On May 30, a scientific and methodological seminar was organized jointly by the Chair of Mathematics and its Teaching Methods, ASPU, and the Chair of Geometry of Moscow Pedagogical State University (MPGU).

Professors, PhD students, MA students and students attended the seminar organized within the framework of international collaboration.

Through a video call, Professor Sergey Atanasyan, Head of the Chair of Geometry, MPGU, Doctor of Education, presented a report entitled “Statements Equivalent to Euclid's Parallel Postulate” which was followed by discussions on hyperbolic geometry by Lobachevsky.

ASPU Professors Samvel Harutyunyan, Lusine Ghulghazaryan and Levon Arabajyan presented their viewpoints on the topic.

The participants also discussed issues and challenges in teaching geometry in schools and universities in Russia and Armenia.

At the end of the seminar, the sides agreed to organize joint seminars and carry out scientific and methodical activity.
