“Starlets” bid farewell to ABC Book

March 16 was a real holiday for the first graders - “Astghiks” (Starlets) of ASPU Basic School N57; they bade farewell to the ABC book in the hall of the Faculty of Culture.

The children sang songs and danced numerous dances glorifying the Armenian letters, Homeland and school.

The "Starlets" were nervous, but at the same time excited and confident that the knowledge of the alphabet will become the pillar that will further strengthen the value and meaning of the Armenian script that has been handed down [from generation to generation] for centuries.

The songs and poems dedicated to the Homeland, mothers, school, and the Mashtotsian Armenian writing sounded like a prayer from the lips of the "Starlets": it was a life-giving force to keep the Armenian spirit strong and the Armenians unbroken. Each of the ""Starlets" is a symbol of kindness, honesty, invincibility, friendship and patriotism. This is how the little children imagine a strong homeland.

The event was also attended by a group of high school students who were taught by Tatevik Abrahamyan in different years. Ms. Abrahamyan says ‘the event is a unique bridge of friendship, thanks to which the younger and older generations can make tomorrow a better day.

The schoolchildren confessed that they feel safe and happy in their school and promised to always remember and be proud that they once studied in that school. At the end of the event, the "Starlets" formed on the stage the symbolic tree of life symbolizing the nation's existence, with leaves of willpower, honesty, dedication, and patriotism, and swore to keep the mother tongue pure and intact.

The ABC book farewell ceremony is an old but not outdated holiday. This is one of those traditions that is worth keeping, preserving and continuing. I wish you new achievements and success,” Naira Toghosyan, Principal of School N57, said at the end of the event.

Tatevik Abrahamyan, who has working with children for more than 30 years, discovers new generations with each class. “This is the fifth class that has mastered the skills of reading and writing in this school. Each class has its own colour and approach, but I strive to instill friendship and solidarity among all children,” she said congratulating the pupils and parents and wishing them success and fulfillment of dreams.
